Peer civic-action projects

ActSmall is one of several small public-interest projects pointing visitors at one concrete next step. The sites below are not us, not run by us, and not part of the same legal entity — they are independent groups doing something recognisably similar under their own brand. We list them here so a visitor can find a project closer to where they live, or in a language we don't cover.

Run a peer civic site? Submit it for federation →. Auto-vetted; provisional listings flip to verified after maintainer review.

How we choose what goes on this page

  • We have personally inspected it. A maintainer has spent real time on the peer site within the last twelve months and confirmed it matches its description here.
  • Comparable trust posture. Named sources, no third-party trackers, no paid placements, no opaque revenue model.
  • Different brand, different domain. Per the README's "rename your fork" rule, peers do not present themselves as actsmall.org or any look-alike. If a derivative tried, they would not be listed.
  • Inclusion is not endorsement of every page on the peer site. People run their own editorial. This page is the maintainer saying "this is a real project in the same spirit," nothing more.

Manifest source: /data/peers.json — schema and review cadence are documented in the _meta block at the top of that file.

Want to be listed?

If you run a civic-action site that matches the criteria above and you'd like to be listed, use the /submit-peer/ form or email submissions@actsmall.org with the proposed entry (schema in /data/peers.json). A maintainer will review and either accept, ask questions, or decline. We err toward fewer good entries over many uncertain ones.

The listing is one-way: we link to peers. We do not ask peers to link back, we do not run any cross-site analytics, and we do not iframe or otherwise embed peer content. The visitor's click out passes through their own browser the same way any other outbound link on ActSmall does.
